Mindwell was born to Isaiah and Artemesia (Fillmore) Armstrong in 1790 in Connecticut. She would marry Eli Lee in 1809 and move to New York where they started their family. They would have the following children:
Maria Lee (1810-1819)
Lyman Lee (1815-1887)
Adon F. Lee (1820-1857)
Elisha H. Lee (1824-1868)
Lewis Lee (1828-1840)
Romenzo Lee (1832-1851)
The couple would eventually move their family from New England to Michigan where they would be one of the pioneer families in the Hartland area. Once established in Michigan, Eli and Mindwell became founding members of the Baptist Church of Highland.
Mindwell would pass away in 1876 at 85 years of age.
