George was born in 1830. He was the son of William Armstrong and Mary King. He passed away in 1862.

The following information is from George's military file on Fold3:
George was appointed as a 2nd Lieutenant in Company L / A, 6th Alabama Infantry Regiment on June 4, 1861, at Corinth, Mississippi. The company was identified as "K" and "L" but in late 1862 redesignated "A" Company.
George was commissioned as a 1st Lieutenant on November 6, 1861, at Davis Ford, Virginia, by the authority of the Governor of Alabama.
George died at the Battle of Seven Pines on May 31, 1862. His brother Pvt. Agustus Armstrong died on the same day. They were in the same company.
A claim was filed by Hon. J. L. Pugh on September 17, 1862, for any pay and effects.
A petition was submitted on July 22, 1862, by William Armstrong, father of George Armstrong and Private Agustus Armstrong, both of whom died at the Battle of Seven Pines in Virginia on May 31, 1862. He states that neither of them left a widow or children, so as the father he was entitled to any pay due them. He appointed J. C. Bryan as his representative and attorney.[3]
