Biography
John was born about 1758 being christened that year on 1 November at Oundle, Northamptonshire[1]. He was the son of John Armstrong and Catherine Hill. He passed away in 1835 and was buried at St James, Westminster on 26 August[2][3].
John married at St James Westminster on 1 May 1805, Elizabeth Philipson of St Mary Abbots parish[4].
John executed his will on 21 April 1835 while a minister of St James Chapel, Westminster. He neglected to have witnesses to his signature. His brother-in-law Thomas Sumpter and nephew William Harcourt Torriano were named as executors and proved the will at London on 31 August 1835. In the will he mentions his wife Elizabeth, sister Margaret Torriano, brother-in-law Thomas Sumpter, and a number of nieces and nephews[5].
