  2. Source:#S488 8 Oct 1959. Marlow - mrs. Mabeth Mae Armstrong, longtime Marlow resident, died at 7:05 a.m. today in a Duncan Hospital, following a heart attack. She had been ill three weeks. Mrs. Armstrong was the widow of the late J.W. Armstrong, whom she married in the Woodlawn community in 1907. She had been visiting with a daughter, Mrs. Gleeola Henson, 106Willow, Duncan. she was the mother of Forest Armstrong, former Marlow chamber of Commerce Secretary who now lives in Seminole. Mrs Armstrong was born July 19, 1885 in Cincinnati, Ohio. She moved from Ohio to El Reno, and later to the woodlawn community northwest of Marlow. She had lived here 47 years. Her address was 407 West Comanche, Marlow. The funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the First Methodist Church where Mrs. Armstrong was a member. She had formerly been active in church work. Burial will be in Marlow cemetery. Other survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Oleta Goins, Marlow, and Mrs. Etolia Birmingham, Comanche Route 2; a son, George Armstrong, Marlow; eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

  7. Source:#S464 "Mr. Armstrong Taken By Death," 24 Jun 1943. Prominent Marlow Business Man Had Been in Failing Health Past 5 Years, Died Thurs. Morning. John Wesley Armstrong, 56, pioneer Marlow businessman, died at his home, 407 West Comanche at 12:15 Thursday morning. He had been in failing health for the past five years and seiously ill for the past week and a half of a heart ailment. He was born March 9, 1887 near Chico, Texas in Wise County. When a baby he moved with his parents to the Indian Territory. He was married to Miss Mabeth Mae Brown, in the woodlawn community, December 25, 1907. Mr Armstrong formerly worked in Cement for the Acme Plaster Co. later in El Reno he was employed by the Ball Bros. Furniture Co. He also worked in Oklahoma City the the Oklahoma Hardware Co. He came to marlow in 1913 and worked for the briscoe Bros. Furniture Co. as an undertaker. In 1917 he purchased the Marlow Variety Store from W.S. Thacker and has owned and operated the store since that time. He is survived by his widow, three daughters; Mrs. Joe Henson of Houston, Texas; Mrs. Rex Cotton and Mrs. Curtis Birmingham of Marlow; two sons, Forest and George of Houston, Texas; one grandchile, Ramona Glee Cotton of Marlow; and three brothers, Marvin of Walters, Dillard of Comanche and Luther of Santa Anna, Calif. Steele Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Funeral services are to held at the First Methodist church at 5 o'clock Friday afternoon and will be conducted by the pastor, Rev. Nuell C. Crain.
