Mary Armstrong was born on March 5, 1770, her father, William, was 25, and her mother, Rachel, was 19. She married Robert Mills and they had one daughter together. She then married John Armstrong on December 10, 1790, in Augusta, Virginia. She died in 1853 in Newberry, South Carolina, having lived a long life of 83 years.
