Biography

Jacob Arndt/Arens was born in Russia in 1842. He married Helena Striemer in1866. They emigrated from Russia, arriving in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada on 30 July 1876 aboard the S. S. Sardinian. He passed away in Cavalier township, North Dakota in 1917.

Three deaths in the vicinity of Alsen last week cast a pall of gloom over the neighborhood. The death of Mrs. Jacob Warkentine and Mr. Jacob Arens, occurred at almost the same hour of the same day, and were the occasion of a double funeral held Sunday at the Rosehill cemetery of the church of the Mennonite Brethren. On Tuesday following the remains of a little baby daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Derkson were given a final resting place in the same cemetery.[1]
