Ferdinand was born in 1887 in Unterferlach-Spodnje Borovlje in the parish of Petschnitzen-Pečnica in Carinthia, Austria. He was the son of Jernej Arnejc and Marija Katnik. He studied Forestry in Klagenfurt and worked for Baron Karel Born in Jelendol before marrying Ana Baloh in Jesenice where he established his own forestry and wood trading company. He passed away in Ljubljana, Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes, now in Slovenia, in 1920.
