Arne Arnesen was born at Leira in Hjørundfjord and baptized on 18 Jul 1751, the son of Arne Knudsen and Brite Pedersdatter.^[1]

Arne married Brit Ottesdatter Aakre on 23 Jul 1786 in Hjørundfjord.^[2] Their children were:

1. Brith Arnesdatter (baptized 1 Jan 1789)
2. Arne Arnesen (baptized 20 Feb 1791)
3. Anne Arnesdatter (baptized 17 Apr 1794)

Arne married for a second time to Ragnild Erichsdatter Bjørke on 28 Jun 1795 in Hjørundfjord.^[3] Their children were:
