Biography

Jakob Arnesen Kvistad was baptize on 16 Feb 1817 in Hjørundfjord, the son of Arne Trulsen and Oline Jakobsdatter.[1] His confirmation was on 16 Dec 1832.[2]

Jakob married Elisabeth Henriksdatter Leknes, daughter of Henrik Henriksen, on 7 Jun 1846 in Hjørundfjord.[3] Two years after their marriage, they moved to Fiskergaard in Borgund parish.[4][5] Their children were:

  1. Knud Johan Jakobsen, born 26 Nov 1843 (died young)
  2. Ole Andreas Jakobsen, born 31 Jan 1847
  3. Johanne Henrikke Jakobsdatter, born 6 Sep 1851

Jakob married for a second time to Pernille Mathiasdatter Aarset, daughter of Mathias Mathiassen, on 2 Jul 1854 in Hjørundfjord.[6] Their children were:

  1. Anne Malene Jakobsdatter, born 4 Apr 1857
  2. Ole Martinus Jakobsen, born 17 Sep 1859
  3. Kristiane Andrine Jakobsdatter, born 22 Sep 1861
  4. Johanna Severine Jakobsdatter, born 16 Aug 1863

In 1865 Jacob Arnesen (age 49) was a farmer at Fiskergaard in Borgund.[7] He lived with his wife Pernille and five children.

He died on 29 Sep 1867 in Borgund.[8] The age given on his burial record was 48 years.
