Johan Andreas Arnesen Kvistad was born on 13 Oct 1867 in Hjørundfjord, Møre og Romsdal, Norway, the son of Arne Johannes Gulliksen and Anne Karoline Trulsdatter.^[1]

In 1875 and 1891 Johan lived at Kvistad in Hjørundfjord with his parents and siblings.^[2][3]

Johan married Marie Jakobine Olivia Olsdatter Sæbø on 5 Jan 1898 in Hjørundfjord.^[4] Their children were:

2. Berta Johanne (Johansdatter) Kvistad (1901 - 1982)
