Biography

Married 11 Nov 1943 Caroline Wells Snider at Fairmont, Marion, WV [1]

Millard enlisted in the U. S. Army. He died in a plane crash on a routine flight from the Army Air Field at Bruning, Nebraska to Pierre, South Dakota. He was a passenger pilot on the flight. On August 3, 1944 a C-47 Skytrain transport #42-23652 was carrying 4 crew members and over 2 dozen men of the US Air Corps. They crashed into a ravine 6 miles from Naper, Nebraska during a storm. There were no survivors. It was the worst aviation disaster in Nebraska history in terms of loss of life. These men were P-47 pilots in training to complete gunnery training there before being sent overseas.[2]
