John Arnett was a Virginia colonist.

John was born in 1770 in Louisa, Virginia. He was the son of James Arnett and Susannah McGehee. He passed away in 1870 in Kentucky, United States.


3. JAMES2 ARNETT (DAVID1)4 was born 1734 in VA5, and died 1781 in Louisa Co, VA5. He married SUSANNAH MCGEHEE Abt. 1750 in Louisa Co, VA, daughter of SAMUEL MCGEHEE and SUSAN ELLETT. She was born 1721 in Louisa Co, VA, and died 1791 in Louisa Co, VA.

Notes for JAMES ARNETT: In notes of Larry Arnett the birthdate of 1734 is given, but there is a date of birth for David Arnett of 1752 (possible) and a date of 1744 for a son of James, James A. of 1744 (probably in error).

Nov 5, 1767 - Louisa County Court Will of Benjamin Bibb of Trinity Parish mentions wife, Mary [Arnett] and "40 acres on the south side of Hickory Creek, part of tract on which I dwell.." [This area is now Lake Louisa and is just north west of Fox Branch.]

Jan 7, 1771 (land abstract) "James Arnett, 300 acres on both sides of Fox Grape branch it being part of 400 acres granted Nov 1, 1734 to Harding Burnley which John Bibb received petition for a lessee for non payment of his Majestys quit rents and obtain as per cent. of the General Court Officers. Surveyed for Richard Bibb ex. of sd John Bibb 28 August, 1769 and by him ordered of sd Richard Bibb transferred unto James Arnett that a patent might be issued in his name." from Louisa Co. Historical Magazine, Vol 10, No 1, Summer 1978. [Note: Fox Branch is just southeast of Lake Louisa and enters into the South Anna River.

Also a one year old brindled bull, with white under his belly and a small star in his forehead, All apraised to 3-10 pounds. March 8, 1791 Susanna Arnett"

Susannah moved to Fayette Co with son, James.

Aug 11, 1795 Susannah Arnett made out her will will witnessed by: Lastly Arnett, David Arnett, James Arnett, John Arnett, et al. -- Burnt Records of Fayette Co, KY. copy in possession of Jo Ann Williamson.
