(May 1947). VVedding March Specially Written. Visiting British musician Warwick Braithwaite wrote a wedding, march for a young Australian couple who will marry soon. Mr Braithwaite is under engagement to the Australian Broadcasting Commission. On Tuesday, in the lounge of the Australia Hotel, he met Tom Arnold, of Albury, and Miss La Valette Walker, of Kambala street, Bellevue Hill. Mr Arnold, a former, AIF major, now completing law studies at the University, and Miss Walker, a blonde, blue-eyed commercial artist, were discussing their coming wedding. Miss Walker remarked that she would like something different from the traditional Mendelssohn and Wagner wedding marches. Mr. Braithwaite, offered to write a wedding march for her. On Thursday he produced the wedding march, and played it for the couple in the ballroom of the Australia Hotel. "Isn't this a thrill," said Miss Walker after hearing Mr Braithwaite play the march. "It's lovely music." Mr Arnold said: "I didn't think he meant it. This means I'll have to engage an organist. This wedding is going to cost something." Mr Braithwaite said: "I wrote the march between 4.30 and 5 p.m. These happy young people set a match to something Inside me. They asked me to give it a name, so I called it the Linden Lea Wedding March. Linden Lea is the name of my home in Hampden Gardens, London."
(Jun 1947). FORTHCOMING MARRIAGE. The "something borrowed and something blue" worn by La Valette Walker at her wedding tomorrow evening will be her grandmother's necklace of sapphires.
