Biography

Peter Arnold was born in 1842 in Whittlesford, Cambridgeshire, England to John Arnold and Jane (Andrew) Arnold. His birth was registered in Linton, Cambridgeshire in the second quarter of the year, with mother's maiden name Andrew.[1]

In 1851 Peter Arnold (age 9, Scholar) lived at South Street in Whittlesford with his father John (41, Farmer), mother Jane (40), and seven siblings: Mary A (16), John A (14, Labourer on Farm), William T (13, Scholar), Andrew (11, Scholar), Jeremiah E (7, Scholar), Benjamin D (5, Scholar), and Ann (1), as well as servant Louisa Young (17).[2]

In 1861 Peter Arnold (age 19, Butcher) was a lodger in Tottenham, Middlesex.[3]

Peter Arnold married Emma Charlotte Barker in 1864. The marriage was registered in Stepney, London in the second quarter of the year.[4]

Peter and Emma had seven children:

  3. Phillip George Barker Arnold (1869-1944)
  4. Minnie (Arnold) Simmons (1872-1954)
  5. Daisy Arnold (1876-1961)

  7. Margaret (Arnold) Beacall (1882-1952)

In 1871 Peter Arnold (age 29, Butcher) lived in Whittlesford with his wife Emma (30) and three sons: Rosalva (6, Scholar), David (4, Scholar), and Philip G B (1).[5]

In 1881 Peter Arnold (age 39, Butcher) lived at High Street in Whittlesford with his wife Emma C (42) and six children: Rosalin (16, 22.2 Machinest (Apprentice)), David (15, Brewer's Labourer), Phillip G B (12, Scholar), Minnie (10, Scholar), Daisey (6, Scholar), and Alice (2).[6]

In 1891 Peter Arnold (age 50, Butcher) lived in Whittlesford with his wife Emma (51, Grocer) and six children: David (34[24], Grocers Assistant), Phillip (21, Agricultural Implement Maker), Minnie (19, Home Work), Daisy (15, Home Work), Alice (12, Home Work), and Margaret (9).[7]

Peter's wife Emma Charlotte Arnold passed away in 1899.

In 1901 Peter Arnold (age 59, Farm Labourer) lived in Whittlesford with five of his children: David (33, Stock Dealer & Carter), Philip (31, Agric Engineers Fitter), Daisy (24), Alice (21), and Margaret (18, Dressmakers Apprentice).[8]

Peter Arnold passed away in 1909, aged 67 years. His death was registered in Linton in the second quarter of the year.[9]
