Biography

John Arnold was born near Thurso, Canada East in 1863. He married Elizabeth Reynolds in Ottawa in 1885.^[1] Elizabeth died around 1912. He married Fannie Dowd in Ottawa in 1913.^[2]

John Arnold, resident of Ottawa for the greater part of his life and well known and popular employee of the Standard Bread Company, died this morning at a local hospital after a short illness. He was in his 76th year. Born near Thurso, Quebec, he came to Ottawa at an early age and resided here since. For the past nineteen years he was employed with the Standard Bread Company, and was held In high esteem by members of the firm. He attended St. Luke's Anglican church and had a wide circle of friends In the parish and throughout the city. Surviving him are his widow, formerly Fanny Dowd; one son, Harry, and a daughter, Jennie, at home, and two step-sisters, Mrs. Joseph Blondin, Hull, and Miss Melinda Arnold of Ottawa. Also surviving are three grandchildren and several nephews and nieces. The funeral will be on Friday afternoon from the Radmore Stewart Funeral Home, 1323 Wellington street, to St, Lukes church for service. Interment will be in Merivale cemetery.^[3]
