Biography

Barbara (Arnold) Rohrbaugh has German Roots.
Barbara (Arnold) Rohrbaugh was a Pennsylvanian.

Barbara, daughter of Joseph Arnold and Lydia Trone, was born 27 May 1845 in Union Township, Adams County, Pennsylvania.

Residence 1850 Union Township, Adams, Pennsylvania[1]

Residence 1860 West Manheim Township, York[2]

About 1867-68 in York County, she married Heinrich Wonder "Henry" Rohrbaugh,[3] son of Henrich Zeigler Rohrbach and Lydia S. Wonder.[4] They had ten children, including four who reached maturity:[3]

  • Mary A. Rohrbaugh (b. 25 January 1875; d. 2 February 1875).[citation needed]

Before 1870 her husband Henry (age 28, farmer) took over management of his family's farm in Manheim Township (Xenia post office), York County, where the household included Barbara (25), their children Sylvester Martin (1) and Sarah Jane (three months), his parents Henry Ziegler (64) and Lydia S. Rohrbaugh (63), and his youngest sister Lydia (21).[31]

By 1880 Henry (age 36, farmer) and Barbara (32) maintained a separate household in Manheim Township next door to his parents.[32] There they resided with their children Sylvester (11), Sarah Jane (10), Leander Joseph (8) and Monroe Henry Rohrbaugh (6).[32]

With their children grown and in their own homes, Henry W. (age 58) and Barbara C. Rohrbaugh (55, mother of ten, four living) remained on the farm they own in Manheim Township with her widowed sister-in-law Matilda (Rohrbach) Saubel (65) in 1900.[3]

Barbara died 27 December 1910 in Codorus Township, York County, and was buried at Saint Jacobs Stone Church Cemetery in Glenville, York County.[33]
