Biography

I was born in Hay but lived the first 12 years on a 3,400 something acre property called Boree Park, 17 miles South of Carrathool. Lived in rough order at Coleambally, Finley, Coleambally, Coomealla, Coleambally, Griffith, Fairfield, Punchbowl, Revesby, East Hills briefly, Liverpool, Kapooka, (all NSW), Watsonia VIC, Enoggera QLD, Fort George Meade near Laurel, Maryland USA, Fort Gordon, Augusta, Georgia, USA, Watsonia Vic. , Canberra 1982, Watsonia, Richmond Vic, Port Melbourne, Burwood East, Hughesdale, and now Rushworth Victoria. 1986 Worked for George Grady, farm 204, Coleambally, curioured for a while in Melbourne, had three trucks over a few years, own company in 2000. 2010-Dec. Obtained a neglected bush block in Rushworth, ten years developing for eucalyptus oil production, but severely hindered by Campaspe Shire "planning" department.

Wikitree. I am slowly building the tree and adding information, mainly using trove newspaper archives, BDM records, PROV, letters and photos, they generally give a good picture verbatim without adding my spin. I am not connected to many of the profiles, I manage, I create profiles on anyone of interest I come across, and am often surprised at what I discover about an obscure person, for example William Turner. who simply wrote a note to my great grandmother.

The star profile of course is John Henry Watmuff, my Great grandfather who left us with his 2000+ page journals of his life on the Australian and New Zealand goldfields, life in Melbourne and a trip back to England. His wife, Bessie Pitts was well known in Italian Opera and also toured New Zealand, her company was left stranded there when the fraudster manager fled to England with the takings. Some other persons of interest connected but not related, are Dr. Mary de Garis, her father was the mover and shaker behind getting the Chaffey Brothers into Australia, her brother Clement John De Garis, Severin Rakowski a Polish patriot.
