Richard Arnold was born in about 1810 in Huyton, Lancashire.

Richard married Martha Lawton on 15 Aug 1830 at St James' Church in Toxteth Park, Liverpool, Lancashire. Both were of the local parish; Richard was a wheelwright, Martha a spinster. The witnesses were Mary Arnold and James Bonney.

Their son James was born on 13 Oct 1835, and christened on 20 Mar 1836 at the church of St Mary the Virgin in West Derby, Lancashire. His father's occupation was recorded as wheelwright, and the family's address as West Derby.

Their daughter Margaret was born on 15 Apr 1838, and christened on 12 Aug 1838 at the church of St Mary the Virgin in West Derby, Lancashire. Her father's occupation was recorded as wheelwright, and the family's address as St Helens.

Their daughter Alice was christened on 1 Aug 1840 at the church of St Mary the Virgin in West Derby, Lancashire. Her father's occupation was recorded as wheelwright, and the family's address as Windle.

By June 6th 1841, the family was living in Eccleston, Lancashire. Richard was a wheel wright.

Research Notes

The second family subunit in the 1841 household were probably lodgers - Sarah's maiden name was Sankey, and her first husband's surname was Ellison, so there's no obvious close family relationship between the Traverses and the Arnolds.
