Fenner Arnold was born July 17, 1738, in Newport, Rhode Island, a son of Benedict Arnold, III. and his wife, Mary. [1] Fenner served an an enlisted soldier, during the American Revolutionary War, in the companies of Captain Hamlin, Captain Blackman, Captain Gilbert, and Captain Sheherd, under the command of Colonel Talcott, Colonel Canfield, and Colonel Eno. [2][3]
Fenner Arnold is honored for his military service by the Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, as DAR Ancestor #A003244. DAR records indicate that he died February 29, 1836, in Great Barrington, Berkshire county, Massachusetts and that his wife's name was Hannah Turner. Application for membership in the Society have been made by the descendants of their son, Elijah Arnold, who married Annis Graham. [4][5]
Fenner Arnold is buried in the Mahaiwe Cemetery, in Great Barrington. There are photographs of his headstone are posted on his Find A Grave memorial, however the inscription is illegible. [6]
Some confusion on WikiTree has been generated due to the memorial for Fenner Arnold on Find A Grave, which cites as his father, Benedict Arnold, III and as his mother, Hannah Lathrop Waterman ... who is the wife of his brother, Benedict Arnold, IV. His birth records, indicate that his mother's name was Mary. *this record has been corrected 2020*
