Source: S254 Author: Gillian M Arnot Smith Title: e-mail from Gilliam M. Arnott Smith NOTESource Medium: Electronic Hi Rod: I have just been tidying up a table of KRS burials from the parish registers, and came across the following which I don't think I have passed on before. Cleish Parish: 27 Jul 1840 died James, natural son of Mary ANDERSON wife of Peter McEWEN, Watergate, age 6, bur 30th I double-checked on the 1841 census, but they are not there! Watergate was a cluster of households next to Cleish Mill, probably on the east side of the buildings labelled Cleish Mill Farm on the modern map and just south of Carsegour which you should be able to find on multimap.com site on the internet. I printed out a 1:25000 scale map two years ago when we were going to stay in a bed and breakfast place, Ard Gairney, which turned out to be between Annacroich (where my husband's ancestors were in 1650) & Carsegour (where they were in 1675, & the family remained portioners until 1827 when the last one left for America, though our line left about 1760 for FIF) I should say this Peter & Mary look like the next generation back; they m.(or banns) 9 Dec 1836 Cleish [ 27 Nov 1836 Kinross]; Peter could be s/o Heugh McEWEN bp.5 Sep 1790 Cleish. I don't have access to the registers now as my society is closed, but can check later in January if you think it worth pursuing. The burial records for Cleish have a gap between 1783 & 1828; there are 3 deaths in next parish Fossoway & Tulliebole around 1760. Best wishes to you & yours - not to mention the research - for 2003, Gillian

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his ancestors' Y-chromosome or mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:
