In spring 1874 at the age of eight, William emigrated to New Zealand with his father William, stepmother Henrietta, siblings Albert, Jemima & Caroline, and stepbrother Robert John, arriving in Wellington on 9 Jul 1875.
Around 1915-1920 when William joined the Army and was stationed in Samoa, his home address was listed as Church Street, Devonport, Auckland, New Zealand.
He is believed to have died in New Zealand in 1955, at the age of 88.
