Donald was born in 1925, the son of Peter Kristian Arntzen (1892–1950) and Emma Alfrida Sandstrom (1892–1966).
He married Betty Marie MacDonald (1925–1983). They had the following children:

Donald Wayne Arntzen,
Age 75, passed away at home on March 7, 2001.
Born on May 24, 1925 in Seattle, he grew up in Ballard and graduated from Ballard High School. Donald then got a degree in civil engineering from the U of W. He joined the Navy at the end of WWII. Through the years, Donald's construction projects have taken him to the South Pacific, Alaska, Oregon, Idaho, and Washington. He dredged coral to enlarge Johnston Island in the South Pacific, built a bridge in Idaho, built roads and constructed harbors in Alaska, and was a major contractor in the Mt. St. Helen's clean-up in Washington State. He loved boating and traveling with his family and grandchildren.
Donald is survived by his sisters Donna Fisher and Ruth Trott; brother Richard Arntzen; sons Ronald and Howard Arntzen; daughters Pamela Firth and Sandra Davis. He leaves 9 grandchildren Jena, Chris , Lindsey Arntzen, Rebecca and Meghan Firth, Jacquelyn and Courtney Ford, Scott and Georgene Davis and two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty.
