Biography

Jean Jacques Arseneau was born about 1729 in Beaubassin, Acadie, Colony of Nova Scotia, son of Jacques Arseneau and Marie Poirier. Bona Arsenault states that Jacques Arsenault (Jean's father) settled in Malpeque around 1740 so Jean was most likely born in Beaubassin. [1][2]

In about 1741 he moved at age 12 (with his family?) to Isle Royale. There he met his future wife, Magdelaine Boudrot from Port Toulouse and married likely about 1750. They were recorded in the 1752 La Roque census at Macpec, Isle Saint-Jean. [3] [4]

Indeed, Jean Arseneaux was married to Magdelaine Boudrot on Nov 3, 1750. His parents are Jacques Arceneaux and Marie Poirier and hers are Francois Boudrot and Jeanne Landry[5][6][7]

Jean died in Sept 1768 in France. [2]

Research Notes

Note: There is another Jean Arsenault who married a wife of the same name on the same day (see Marriage source). Their parents were different. Please don't merge them.

There were three very similar marriages in Port LaJoye on November 3, 1750:

  1. Pierre Arseneau m Marie Boudrot (dau of Claude and Judie Belleveau)
  2. Jean Arseneau (son of Charles) m Madelaine Boudrot (dau of Claude and Judith Belliveau)
  3. Jean Arseneau (Jacques and Marie Poirier) m Magdeleine Boudrot (Francois and Jeanne Landry)[8]
