"Gérard Arsenault, 100, of Saint-Thomas-de-Kent, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family at the Manoir Saint-Jean-Baptiste, Bouctouche, on Friday May 4, 2018. He was married to the late Edmée (Maillet) Arsenault. Born in Saint-Thomas, he was the son of the late Augustin and the late Léonise (Maillet) Arsenault.
Gérard was a fisherman and he also worked as a longshoreman for the Port of Saint-John. He will be sadly missed by his children; Bernadette Breau (Aldérice) of Cocagne, Annette Bourque (Michel) of Dieppe, Maurice of Dixon Point, Alvin (Doris) of Notre-Dame, Raoul of Saint-Antoine, Elmo (Monique) of Saint-Thomas, twelve grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Gérard was predeceased by a son, Laurie (2016), three sisters; Eva, Maria, Florence and three brothers; Donat, Joseph and Edgar.
Visitations will be held at the Maillet Funeral Home, 29 rue de l’église, Bouctouche on Sunday May 6, 2018 from 7 to 9pm and on Monday from 9:30 to 10:45. The Funeral Mass will be held in the Saint-Jean-Baptiste Roman Catholic Church, on Monday May 7, 2018 at 11:00am.
The family would like to say a special thank you to the management and staff of the Manoir Saint-Jean-Baptiste for the exceptional care given to Gérard during his stay at the Manoir. In Gérard`s memory a donation can be made to the Manoir Saint-Jean-Baptiste. Funeral arrangements are in the professional care of Maillet Funeral Home, Bouctouche."[1]
