Thaddee was born in 1815, in Rustico parish, Queen's Co. He is the son of Luc Arseneau and Marie DesRoches. He married Blanche Gaudet (nicknamed "La Blanche") in 1840. MacIsaac & DesRoches list one son & two daughters of theirs (oldest born 1843, youngest born 1871).[1] Jean Bernard, however, provides much more detailed information, based on solid sources. There were actually two sons as well as two daughters, but Bernard shows no record of the second son marrying (merely the dates & place of his birth and baptism). Bernard also shows that the marriage took place in Miscouche with a dispensation for 3-4 degree of consanguinity. The couple were living in the parish of Tignish, at the northwestern extremity of the Island, when all four children were baptized (1842 to 1849), The deaths of Thaddée & Blanche are not mentioned in Bernard's publication, 2009 edition, which reports data only to about year 1900. Bernard's revised edition of the Arsenault volume is being released in August 2019 and may contain additional information.
