Jon was born in 1841at Volda, More og Romsdal, Norway. He married Berte Aakre and they farmed, by her right, at Voldsgarden, Akre, Norway from 1876 until his death in 1931. She continued to farm until 1933. Jon Arsnes passed away in 1931. They were the parents of six children,
