Biography

Rebecca (Arthur) Trethewey was born in Cornwall, England.

Rebecca was born in 1826. She was the daughter of Edward Arthur, a farmer, and his wife Elizabeth. She was baptised on 5 March 1826 in St Stephen in Brannel. ^[1]

She married Richard Trethewey on 2 November 1843 in St Stephen in Brannel. ^[2]

The couple had 11 children.^{[citation needed]}

They emigrated to California where, having been widowed, Rebecca married John Trethewey, her first husband's first cousin, in 1877. ^[3] She died less than four years after this second marriage, on 26 July 1881, and was buried in Stockton, San Joaquin. ^[4]
