Dolly (Artis) Townsend is a part of US Black heritage.

Dolly Jane Artis was born about 1841^[1][2]-1843^[3] in Ohio^[3][1][2]. She was the child^[3] of James Artis and Angeline Newson, the sibling^[3] of Joseph Artis of the famous 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry, the wife^[4][1][2] and widow^[5] of David Boyd, and the wife^[5] of Mr. Townsend.
