Dolly (Artis) Townsend is a part of US Black heritage.
Dolly Jane Artis was born about 1841[1][2]-1843[3] in Ohio[3][1][2]. She was the child[3] of James Artis and Angeline Newson, the sibling[3] of Joseph Artis of the famous 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry, the wife[4][1][2] and widow[5] of David Boyd, and the wife[5] of Mr. Townsend.
