He enlisted in the Army on 31 Jan 1941 [4] and was stationed at Fort Knox, Kentucky. Due to a prior injury to his foot, he was not sent overseas for World War II, and was discharged. [5] He married Frances Kay Cuffaro on 27 Dec 1941, [6] returned to work for the Valley Camp Coal Company, and was killed in a mining accident in 1942. [7] His son Louis Anthony, Jr. was born a month after he died. [5]
Louis is buried at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Wheeling, West Virginia. [8]
