He was listed on the muster of the Marine Corp in 1891 in Brooklyn, Kings, New York.[3]
He married Mrs. Allie Edith (Gillette) Langenberger about 05 May 1897 in San Jose, California.[4] They had two sons, Ralph Newell Asay and Leroy Aaron Asay. Allie had a daughter Edna born about 1893.
In 1900, Newell, Allie, Edna and Ralph were living in a hotel in Contra Costa county, California, where Newell was employed as a cook.[5]
Allie passed away in 1905.
Newell married Mrs. Maria S. (Axelrod) Peterson on 11 May 1911 in San Francisco.[6]
In 1920, he was farming in Calabasas, Los Angeles county, California.[7] He filed a land patent in 1923 in Los Angeles county.[8]
He passed away in 1950 in San Bernardino county, California.[9]
