Nannie was the daughter of Overton and Elizabeth (Becknell) Azbill, and the sister of Mary, Joseph, William, Charles, Juann, Chilela, Laura, and Albert. Her father was a medical doctor. Nancy married Isaac Davis in 1868 in McKee, Jackson County, Kentucky, They had seven children (Charles Green 1870, Lewis A. 1874, Willie 1881, Minnie 1883, Egbert 1888, Winnie 1895, Ruth 1898).
Charles and Nancy purchased his father's homeplace in Cave Springs, South Fork area of Jackson County, after the estate was settled. They lived and farmed there until 1887, when they began having trouble with some neighbors. They sold the house to Isaac's sister and her husband, Mary Ellen (Davis) and William Abney, and moved to Berea.
