Reese Asbury was born on April 12, 1838 in Tazewell, Virginia, United States to the parents of John Asbury and Mary "Polly" (Ratliff) Asbury. Reese was one (1) of fourteen (14) children.[1]
In 1850, Reese was fifteen (15) living in his parent's home in Jeffersonville, Tazewell, Virginia, United States.[2]
On April 11, 1852, Reese married Margaret E. Hoops in Johnson, Tennessee, United States.[3]
In 1860, Reese's rapidly growing family lived in Western District, Tazewell, Virginia, United States.[4]
Reese fought in the Civil War from 1861-1865 for the Confederacy, in Company C, 16th Regiment, Virginia Cavalry as a Private through-out the war.[5]
In 1870 & 1880, Reese's household had doubled living in Jeffersonville, Tazewell, Virginia, United States.[6][7]
