Josiah was born about 1873 in Orrell, Lancashire, England. He was the son of Edmund and Mary Ashall.[1]
His 1st marriage was to Jane Liptrot on May 30, 1896 at St Thomas, Upholland, Lancashire. She was 21 years old and her father was William Liptrot. Josiah was 23 years old and his father was Edmund Ashall.[2][3]Tragically, he was widowed just 2 years later.
His 2nd marriage was to widow Ellen Howard Melling (nee Wright) on February 26, 1900 at St Thomas in Upholland, Lancashire. He was 27 years old while and his father was Edmund Ashall. She was 53 years old and her father was Thomas Wright.[4]
Josiah died at the age of 67 and his death was registered in the 2nd quarter in Ince registration district in Lancashire, England.[5]
