CLARA ISABELLE (ASHBURN) MORELAND, age 99, of Mount Vernon, Ohio went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 3, 2016.
She was born September 8, 1916 in Harrison Township, Knox County, Ohio, being the youngest child of Lee Denton and Edith Effie (Lamson) Ashburn. She was a life-long resident of Knox County.
Isabelle grew up without all of the modern conveniences we have today, and knew all about hard work. She learned to sew at age 9 and made her first dress at 13. She’s been an excellent seamstress since. Isabelle enjoyed gardening, ceramics, needlepoint, making afghan’s for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many others. She was a member of the Milford Church of Christ.
Isabelle is survived by her children; Stanley (Lynn) Moreland of Lexington, Kentucky, Donald (Freda) Moreland of Mount Vernon, Neil (Linda) Moreland of Centerburg, Gerald (Ruth) Moreland of Warren, Indiana, Ernest (Luciene) Moreland of Centerburg and Lois Miles of North Royalton, Ohio, nineteen grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Glenn Moreland, three sisters; Mary Daily, Dessie Tier, Margaret Butler and her brother, Hallie Ashburn.
Friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon, Ohio, 43050. A funeral service will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the Milford Church of Christ, 3648 Johnstown Road, Centerburg, Ohio, 43011 where friends may call one hour prior. Mr. Gerald Moreland and Mr. Kevin Moreland will be officiating. Burial will follow in Eastview Cemetery in Centerburg.
