John Ashburn, III & his wife Elizabeth lived in Caroline County, Va 12 Jul 1753
Marriage records are confusing. Multiple records list the date as January 9, 1765. But some state the bride's name is Mary Gottier, some say Elizabeth Gottier. They were married at Old St. Paul's Catholic Church in Philadelphia.

It is not known where or when John died. He is listed in a NC census record of 1784-1787, and is shown living near his son Anderson Ashburn. I chose to use 1785 as his death year but it is only a guess.
