Biography
Erma Ashby was born in Westfield Twp, Fayette, Iowa on 22 May 1884. She was the fifth born child and second daughter of William Wesley Ashby and Andie Lucie Owen.[1] She married Robert Henry Holroyd in Benton, Oregon on 2 Jan 1906. NOTE: In the following FamilySearch source, her given name was incorrectly transcribed as "Lila".[2] They had 3 children together. Madeline M. b. in Corvallis on 3 Jul 1906, Helen Lenore b. in Corvallis on 16 Feb 1908 and Jack D. b. in Corvallis in abt. 1917. In the 1910 Census, Erma was living in Corvallis Ward 2, Benton, Oregon with her husband Robert and her two daughters. Erma was 26 years old (recorded as 24).[3] In the 1920 Census, Erma is living in Corvallis with her husband and all three of their children. The "new" addition is Jack D. who was 3 years old at the time. Erma is 36.[4] In the 1930 Census, Erma was living in Plymouth, Benton, Oregon with her husband and two of the remaining children, Madeline and Jack. She is 46.[5] In the 1940 Census, Erma was still with her husband in the Plymouth Pct of Corvallis. The same two kids are also in the home; both are still single; Madeline was 24 and Jack was 13. Erma was 46.[6] Although Erma was 4 years older than Robert, she lived another 22 years after his death. She died in Benton County on 31 July 1973.[7]
