Mary was born about 1797 in Kentucky and became the wife of William Smith. William Smith is mentioned in the Will of her father Jediah Ashcraft. Mary and William resided in Pendleton County. William passed of cholera in 1851. Mary appeared as a widowed head of household in 1860 at age 62. Mary was residing in the household of John R. Frakes during the 1870 census with son George W. Smith. She passed away after 1870.
