Biography
Thomas Ashcroft was born in Rostherne, Cheshire, England.
Thomas was born in 1844. He is the son of James Ashcroft and Elizabeth Platt. His birth was registered in the Oct-Nov-Dec quarter of 1844 in the Altrincham Union district.[1]
His mother died shortly after Thomas's birth.[2]
He was baptised on 5 January 1845 in Rostherne, Cheshire, England.[3]

Research Notes
A death was registered for a Thomas Ashurst Thomas's age 84 in the Jan-Feb-Mar quarter of 1929 in the Barton I. district.[11]
Whilst this might seem right for Thomas, Find A Grave has a record for a corresponding memorial in Southern Cemetery, Chorlton-Cum-Hardy, Metropolitan Borough of Manchester, Greater Manchester, England with a death date of 18 February 1929 but this Thomas's wife was called Mary Ellen and daughters are mentioned on the memorial.[12]
