After spending a week with their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. C. Tucker of Apsley, Ont., Mr. and Mrs. Ashenhurst returned to their home in Uxbridge on Oct. 3rd, 1950. They were greeted in the evening by their family, relatives, and friends to celebrate the occasion of their Golden Wedding Anniversary.
Mr. and Mrs. Ashenhurst were married at Stouffville Oct. 3rd, 1900, after which they settled on the 4th concession of Uxbridge Township, where they farmed up until 3 years ago, when they retired to the town of Uxbridge.
Those present included their family of four daughters, (Olla) Mrs. Howard Forsyth of Goodwood, (Greta) Mrs. Clayton Hill, Claremont, (laura) Mrs. M. C. Tucker, Apsley, (Hilda) Mrs. Bruce Bailey, Epsom, their husbands and three grandchildren.
Others attended from Claremont, Goodwood, Toronto, Greenbank and Uxbridge, including the bridesmaid of 50 years ago, Mrs. W.C. Ashenhurst of Uxbridge. The groomsman, the late Mr. W.C Ashenhurst, passed on about two years ago. Also present was the aunt of Mrs. Ashenhurst, Mrs. Ruth Middleton of Claremont, who made the bride's wedding cake 50 years ago.
Mr. and Mrs. Ashenhurst were the recipients of several lovely gifts and cards. (Source: Stouffville Tribune (Stouffville, ON), 12 Oct 1950, p. 1)
