DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Mercy by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Mercy:
" She was the daughter of David Ashley and Mary Dewey." This is incorrect. Mary is the daughter of Samuel Ashley (Ashley-811) and Sarah Kellogg (Kellogg-224). These are the same parents as Samuel Kellogg's second wife, Mary's sister, Rachel Kellogg, (Kellogg-3077).
Mary died in 1728, and Samuel married sister Rachel within a couple months. The two women were also 1st cousins to Samuel.
Also, I have nor previously seen the "Mercy" first name for Mary.
