He was preceded in death by his parents, Hoye G. and Mary B. Ashley of Columbia.
He worked for Can-Tex for several years, was a former offshore oilfield employee, an avid sports fan who excelled in athletics during his high school years and had a life-long passion for sports, especially football.
Survivors include his sister, Rose Ashley Fortenberry; brother, Gregory Ashley (Lisa); nephew, Lane Fortenberry (Rachel); two nieces, Lisa Fortenberry Smith (Buzz) and Jessica Ashley McNeese (Trace); six great nephews; two great nieces and many other beloved friends and family members and will be sadly missed.
