James was born in 1921. He was the son of James Ashley and Viola Odom. He passed away in 1987.
Services for James Andrew Ashley Jr. will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church with the Rev. Richard Norsworthy officiating. Entombment will be in Alexandria Memorial Garden mausoleum under direction of John Kramer & Son. Ashley, 65, of Alexandria died at 1:35 p.m. Thursday in St. Frances Cabrini Hospital. He was a salesman for Lund Oxygen and Liquid Air Co. He was a World War II Army veteran and a native of Alexandria. Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Laurent Ashley of Alexandria; four sons, James Richard Ashley of Bossier City, Charles William Ashley of Richmond, Va., Thomas Eugene Ashley of Lafayette and Donald Francis Ashley of Dallas, Texas; one daughter, Marie Gameau of Jacksonville, Ark.; three sisters, Bessie Harwell of Lake Charles, Stella Hayworth and Hazel Stevens, both of Alexandria; and nine grandchildren. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. today in the funeral home, where a rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. today. Friends may call until time of services Saturday in the funeral home.
