News Release

Melbourne, Ark., Melbourne Times June 26, 1936 HUNDREDS WILL HEAR ASHLEY AT SEARCY NEXT SAT.

Large Delegations of Supporters Will Attend From a Score of North Arkansas Counties Izard and neighbor counties and other counties in North Arkansas will be well represented at Searcy this Saturday, June 27, when Senator John C. Ashley of Melbourne makes his opening speech for governor at 2p.m.

At that time Senator Ashley will outline his platform to the voters and will discuss the problems to come before the next chief executive of Arkansas.

Senator Ashley has carried into the campaign the slogan: "Win with Ashley from Izard." This slogan harmonizes most fluently with the county's past records of furnishing leaders throughout the country. Izard county has furnished Oklahoma with a lieutenant governor, Oklahoma City with polise judge and the state of Washington with a congressman. The county furnished a congressman for her own district for 20 years, and has given the state a state treasurer, a number of circuit judges, prominent state department officials, attorneys, ministers and many other leading professional men.

The county is now solidly backing Senator Ashley for governor, and reports indicate he already has a strong following in every part of the state.
