Alonzo Newton Ashmore was born on April 1, 1913 in Texas, United States, son of Alonzo Newton Ashmore (1877–1950) and Mollie Eugenia Perry (1890–1961).

Alonzo married Mildred Ann Odo (born on July 4, 1915 in Paris, Lamar, Texas).
