Biography

Jane was born in Shoreditch, London, England on Jan 3, 1848 and she was christened in St John the Baptist Church, Shoreditch, London, England on Oct 16, 1850. She was the daughter of Charles Ashton and Jane Browne.

She emigrated to Australia sometime between 1848 and 1872, however it is not known which state (or vessel) she arrived in Australia. She possibly could have arrived with her brother Charles Langdale Ashton who appears to have arrived between 1878 and 1881.

She met and married William John Marshall in St Andrews Cathedral, Sydney, NSW, Australia on Dec 30, 1872. They had resided in Dunmore St, Bexley since around 1890.

Jane passed away in her residence at 79 Dunmore St, Bexley, NSW, Australia, NSW, Australia on May 1, 1932, age 83 and is buried in Woronora Memorial Park, Sutherland, Sutherland Shire, New South Wales, Australia.
