Biography

Harold Ashton was a son of Albert Ashton and Elvina (Willoughby) Ashton.[1][2]

Birth

He was born 31 October 1894 at Limpsfield, Surrey, England.[1][2][3]

Residence

  • 1901 to 1911 (with his parents) at Champions Cottages, Limpsfield, Surrey.[2][4]

Occupation

In 1911 his occupation was gardener.[4]

Military Service and Death

On 23 November 1914 he enlisted in the Canadian Overseas Expeditionary Force and on 8 October 1915 embarked for France with the 21st Battalion of Canadian Infantry. Harold Ashton was killed in action 23 October 1915 at Ieper (Ypres), West Flanders, Belgium.[3]

He was buried and is commemorated at the Ridge Wood Military Cemetery, Ieper.[5]
