Thomas Slade married Mary Ashwell on 2 April 1668 at Biddenham, Beds, and had a daughter Mary baptised on 17 Dec 1676 at Cardington.
Mary Slade buried 1 Oct 1712 at Cardington. A document recites the will of Mary Slade 28 Jan 1711/12 in favour of her daughter Mary Willimott and grandchildren William Willimott and Slade Willimott. Seven acres in Cardington purchased by Mary Slade in her widowhood of John Crawford (Cranfield?) of Bedford. [Bedford RO ref W 688] The actual will mentions houses, barns, stables, outhouses, etc. with all arable land, closes, pightsalls, meadow. She made her mark, witnessed by Henry Whitbread, Samuel Larkin and Richard Whitman. Reference W 689 recites the will of William Willimott in 1710/11.
Memorandum I Mary Slade of Cardington in the County of Bedford widdow do make & ordain this my last will & teatament this twenty eighth day of Jaone thousand seven hundred & eleven as followeth Imprimus I give to my daughter Mary Willimott all my hoses barnes stables outhouses & other buildings with all my arable land closes pighstells meadows ground & all other my freehold in Cardington to my said daughter for the term of her natural life if she continue a widdow She keeping the said buildings & other premises in good & sufficient repair and my will & mind isthat after the decease of y said daughter or if she shall marry which shall first happen that all the aforesaid houses buildings arable land meadow & sward ground shall descend and come to my grandson William Whillimott & his heirs he payingto y grandson Slade Willimott twenty pounds out of the said premises when he shall attain the age of one & twenty years but if my granson Will Willimott shall nrglrct to pay the said twenty pounds to his brother Slade Willimott then & on shuch case my will is that my grandson Slade Willimott shall enter upon the said hoses sward ground meadow arable land & premises & enjoy them till he shall be pd the said twenty poind & lawful interest for the same. Item I give to my grandson Thomas Willimott twenty pounds to be paid him when he shall attain the age of one & twenty years by my executrix hereafter named Item I give to my granddaughter Elizabeth Willimott twenty pounds to be paid her at her age of one & twenty years by my executrix hrerafter named Item I give to my two granddaughters Mary & Elizabeth Willimott all my linen and pewter to be equally divided betwixt them Item I give to my granddaughter Mary Willimott twenty pounds to be paid by my executrix Item my will & mind is that my daughter Mary Willimott & my executrix as hreafter named shall pay all the legacys given in my husbands will that are unpayed to the several legatees therein named. Lastly I do appoint & constitute Mary Willimott my daughter sole executrix of ths my last will & testament She paying my debts & legacys & funerall expenses & the legacys given in my husband Thomas Slades last will and I give to my said daughter Mary Willimott my executrix all the rst of my goods & chattells whatsoever & wheresoever herein unbequeath witness my hand & sign the day and year above written her mark in front of Henry Whitbread Samuel Lorkin and Richard Whitman
