JOHN F. ASHWILL OF TOLEDO IS DEAD

Toledo, Ill., April 2. – John F. Ashwill, former county treasurer and former postmaster, died Wednesday at his home here, following an illness of about six weeks which started with a paralytic stroke.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon.
Mr. Ashwill was born in Delaware county, Ohio, Jan. 11, 1855, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ashwill. The family moved here in 1856 and a year later moved to Wilson county, Kansas. Mr. Ashwill returned here in 1873 and for years was engaged in farming. Later he entered politics and held many offices of trust in the county.
He was deputy sheriff several years, and county treasurer from 1896-1900. From 1904 to 1912 he was postmaster, and deputy treasurer two different times, 1918-1925 and 1926-1930.
On Sept. 25, 1882, he married Miss Viola Decius. She died in 1913. In later years he married Mrs. Minnie Scott of Toledo, who survives him.
He is survived also by seven children of the first marriage, Mrs. William Andrews of Springfield, Mrs. Harold Willan of Paris, Mrs. Ross Graham of Chicago, Miss Hattie Ashwill and Golden Ashwill, at home, Warren Ashwill of Okmulgee, Okla., and Raymond Ashwill of Seattle, Wash.
