On February 2, 1767, Jonathan Ashworth in Charlotte County, Virginia sold a parcel of land of 110 acres on Sandy Creek to a William Bumpus. This land bordered property belonging to Isaac Ashworth. The paperwork was signed by Jonathan J (possibly T) Ashworth, SS. The document was witnessed by Christopher Loving (possibly this man: Loving-624), Thomas Williams, and Samuel Ashworth.[1]
On September 2, 1771, Jonathan Ashworth, of the County of Pittsylvania sold to Samuel Ashworth, of the County of Charlotte, for 5 pounds current money of Virginia 150 acres of land lying on Sandy Creek. Other property owners with property bordering the sale include Isaac Ashworth, William Bumpuss and John Rolins. The wife of John Ashworth, Jean Ashworth, relinquishes her dower to the property.[2]
On September 3, 1771, the same Jonathan Ashworth, signed John Ashworth SS, sold land in Charlotte County to John Rawlins of the County of Halifax. John Ashworth is said to be from the County of Pittsylvania. He sold the 150 acres for £35. The land is described as "Begining (sic) on Samuel Ashworth's line a new corner to Blank's line, from thence to Alexander Roberts line, thence to Jonathan Abbots line, from thence along a new line to the place begun at." The deed was witnessed by Ja Watkins (likely Watkins-289 as he is married to a Martha), Francis Lindsey, Samuel Ashworth, and Martha Watkins (likely Thompson-1625 as she was married to a James Watkins).[3]
"On the 28 day of November in the thirteenth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord King George the third and in the year of our Lord Christ one thousand seven hundred and seventy two" in Charlotte County, Virginia, John Ashworth and William Tulcher sold land to David Chandler. It is unclear if John Ashworth and William Tulcher are of Pittsylvania County or if both are. David Chandler is of Charlotte County and the Parish of Cornwall. This is a connection with Isaac Ashworth who also is from Cornwall and may be related to Jonathan. The land was along a branch of Sandy Creek containing about 200 acres. An addendum to this deed states that a Clark Sullivant witnessed the sale in place of the deceased said Ashworth.[4]
