Frank was born in Whirefield, Lancashire, England, on July 1, 1868. [1](Whitefield is a town in the Metropolitan Borough of Bury). He was the son of John Ashworth and Elizabeth (Unknown). He was baptized on September 13, 1868, in Stand, Lancashire.[2] He was enumerated in the 1871, [3]and 1881 census [4]residing with his family in Whitefield.
Frank married Harriet Dixon in 1891. the marriage was registered in the fourth quarter in Bury. [5]Frank and Harriet were enumerated in the 1891 census [6]residing in Bury. He declared his occupation as "Iron Turner". The couple would have four children. The family was enumerated in the 1901 census [7]residing in Radcliffe, Lancashire. (Radcliffe is also a town in the Metropolitan Borough
of Burnley). There are three children at residence, James, Thomas, and Ida. In 1911, the family is enumerated living in Prestwich, Lancashire.[8] James is not at residence, but another child, Frank, age six years appears.
